Doe Bender
Doe has sung all her life. In her early twenties she chose to pursue it more seriously, and
she received both a Diploma from Vancouver Community College and a Bachelor of Arts in
Music from Trinity Western University. Although she initially studied Classical music, she
later began to include Jazz, Gospel, and Pop in her repertoire.

Doe worked teaching in an Elementary School, starting a band program, and guiding many young players. But after fifteen years she decided to follow her passion to play more, and she has focused as performing as a Jazz entertainer, and to accompany herself on piano.

Doe is a recording musician who recorded two CD’s; “A Story of Love” and followed that up with “A Journey of Love”. As is apparent, she celebrates the themes of life, love and romance! Doe uses the great American songbook for most of her inspiration.

Mark Bender
Mark Bender has been an acoustic and electric bass player for over forty years, enjoying a wide variety of performance experiences. He has played in numerous jazz and dance groups, toured with a Top 40 band, gives private lessons, and has gained both TV and recording experience.

Mark has played abroad in both Japan and Germany and has over twenty recording project credits. He also keeps his classical bass playing current by continuing to play in various community orchestras.
Mark’s talents are in increasing demand. Along with the Doe Bender Group, he plays in the greater Vancouver area with a variety of other jazz groups, including Wanda Nowicki, Three For All, as well as subbing in for Bob Liley's Sanctuary All Stars and the Urbana big band. He tours regularly in the US with an Oktoberfest band. He also plays with a folk fusion band and various worship bands.
Mark really wants it all and tries to be versatile enough to play any type of music! He truly enjoys working with creative people and appreciates how music can capture and stimulate a wide range of emotions, often in a very intimate or spontaneous way. He can hardly wait to see where music will take him next!

Matthew Bender
Matthew studied at the University of British Columbia, as well as at Capilano College, under Fred Stride, Sal Ferreras, Ken Moore, and Brad Turner. He has played the Lionel Hampton Jazz Festival, the Mercury Lounge in New York City, and performed in venues in every province in Canada. Matt was a professional musician for six years with the alternative rock band "The Februarys". But Matthew is very versatile and has an understanding of many different styles of music. His “lighter touch” was solidified during a masterclass with Jeff Hamilton. Matthew continues to enjoy playing rock and jazz gigs around Vancouver, and performs with a multitude of different performers.

Nick Apivor
Nick received his Bachelor of Music degree from the University of Victoria in 1986, studying with Sal Ferreras. In the Classical/New Music World he has played with the Victoria Symphony, Vancouver Island Symphony, The Drosera Ensemble, and recorded with Grammy nominated composer, Paul Dolden.
