Doe Bender's Bio

A vocalist has been singing all her life, but over the last twenty years, she has pursued music as a serious profession. She also plays piano and flute and has a B.A. in music. In addition, Doe has recorded two CDs, A Story of Love and a Journey of Love.

Being a hopeless romantic, she will sing about life, love, and romance! She'll present a classy look and a classy sound! Doe looks forward to singing for you.

Nick Apivor's Bio

Vibraphonist/percussionist Nick Apivor received his B.Mus from UVic in 1986. He has since studied jazz with such Canadian greats as Don Thompson, Louise Rose, Paul Horn, and Hugh Fraser, as well as with NY musicians Mark Sherman and Jason Gianni.

Nick has played with the N.O.W Orchestra, Juno-nominated Rumba Calzada, Bill Runge Quintet, and numerous other groups, including his own Double Vibes, which plays the music of the great jazz vibraphonists in the tradition.

He has toured extensively across Canada, U.S., Philippines, and Malaysia.

Mark Bender's Bio

Mark Bender has been an acoustic and electric bass player for over forty years, enjoying a wide variety of performance experiences. He has toured with a Top 40 rock band, played in numerous dance and jazz groups, and has gained both TV and recording experience. Mark has played abroad in Japan and Germany and has over twenty recording project credits. He keeps his classical bass playing current by continuing to play in community orchestras.

Mark truly enjoys working with creative people and appreciates how music can capture and stimulate a wide range of emotions, often in a very intimate or spontaneous way. He can hardly wait to see where music will take him next!

Matthew Bender's Bio

Drummer and percussionist Matthew Bender attended the School of Music at UBC and Capilano College. He studied with Scott Robertson, Ken Moore, Sal Ferreras, Vern Griffiths, Martin Berinbaum, Fred Stride, and Brad Turner.

Matthew toured, played, and recorded with The Februarys as well as other groups across Canada and the US. He feels fortunate to have been able to play concerts in each of the ten provinces in Canada as well as in New York City.

Matthew plays with a range of sounds, from sensitive to powerful!
